Abstract

142,411. Turner, R. St. E. Dec. 12, 1919. Circular-saw machines. - Comprises means for adjusting the spindles of circular-saw machines and the inclination of the work table with respect to the saw. The spindle 10, Fig. 3, carrying the saw 11 is carried by a bearing slidable in a guideway 3 in the frame 2 of the machine, the bearing comprising a block 6 provided with flanges 8 to engage one face of the frame and a plate 14 provided with flanges to engage the opposite face of the frame, and a clamping-screw 16 whereby the block and the plate may be brought together to clamp the frame and secure the bearing in position. The bearing-surface is formed between the halves 9, 12 of a split sleeve. When the block and the plate are unclamped, the bearing is adjustable in the guideway either by means of a screw 24, Fig. 3, turned by gearing 26, or by being moved directly by hand, for which the construction shown in Fig. 8 is intended. The block and the plate are loosely connected together by a pin 20, Fig. 3, or by a screw 87, Fig. 8. The work table 51 is pivoted at 53 to the frame, and is provided with an adjusting-segment 49. The driving-belt is tensioned by a spring-controlled pulley.
