Abstract

1423573 Rotary harrows C VAN DER LELY NV 6 March 1973 [8 March 1972] 10932/73 Heading A1B A rotary harrow comprises a plurality of soil-working members 3 rotated by vertical shafts 2 arranged side-by-side in a frame and further soil-working members in the form of tines 12. The shafts 2 are connected by gearing so that when one of the central shafts is driven from a tractor p.t.o. 39 through a gear box 35, adjacent shafts rotate in opposite directions. Each soil-working member 3 comprises two tines 4, 9 and cultivates a strip of land spaced a short distance from neighbouring strips. The intermediate strips of land are worked by the tines 12 which are rigidly attached to vertical shafts 15, these shafts being free to oscillate in bushes 16. The range of movement of the tines 12 is limited by contact with brackets 10 attached to the rotary soil-working members 3 which return the tines 12 to their normal operating position. Alternatively the tines 12 may be positively driven to and fro.
