Abstract
142,219. Howard, H. J. Feb. 18, 1919. Valve-gear. - Reciprocating cylindrical or segmental valves c of internal-combustion engines are connected to an actuating-bridge a by two side members b, each consisting of a compression member 2 and a central tension member 6, which are caused to grip the studs 3 on the valve by screwing up nuts 4. In a modification, the member 2 is tubular and provided with recesses to receive either two studs or a flattened tongue on a segmental valve.
