Compression engines; crank chambers.-Radial cylinders are disposed in two or more parallel planes with adjacent cylinders in the different planes in line. The cylinders in adjacent parallel planes are separated slightly to facilitate cooling. As shown in Fig. 1, the cylinders are disposed in two planes around a crank casing comprising a central portion d and end plates c, e. The crank casing engages recesses formed between collars g, h on the cylinders, wedge-shaped members (not shown) being interposed between the collars g and the periphery of the crank casing, which is held together by bolts f. The central portion d may comprise more than one piece.
