Abstract

1420546 Feeding lap formers E FEHRER 3 May 1974 [24 May 1973] 19561/74 Heading D1N Apparatus for feeding lap machines comprises a carding unit I which consists of a carding drum 3, a pair of feed rollers 2 and a pair of parallel smooth conveyors 1, 4 which run at a lower speed than the rollers 2, this feeds fibre to a second carding unit II similarly consisting of a carding cylinder 3', a pair of feed rollers 2' and a pair of parallel smooth conveyors 1', 4' running a lower speed than the rollers 2'. A light barrier 7 is provided at the entry to the second conveyors 1', 4' and when the space therebetween is full of fibres the first feed rollers 2 are deenergized. Fibre is fed to the first carding unit I by a hopper 5.
