Abstract

1417319 False twist spindles: false twist texturizing CHAVANOZ SA 8 Feb 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 6268/73 Headings DID and D1F A frictional false twist device for texturising a moving yarn comprises two rotating tubes each provided at each end with a friction ring with a convex polished surface, formed of a ceramic including titanium oxide or sintered alumina. The friction rings preferably have a Rockwell HRC hardness greater than 60. An example is quoted in which polyhexamethylene adipmide yarn is false twisted, the setting temperature and strength and percentage elongation figures being given. The friction coefficient with the friction rings is also given. Yarn guides 14 and 15 are provided to position the yarn correctly during start up, but they may also be used to hold the yarn clear of some of the friction rings 10, 11, 12 and 13 as necessary. Fig. 2 illustrates the false twist device 25 in a texturizing apparatus with a heating box 24, a further setting heater may be provided between the false twister and the winder 27.
