Abstract

1412063 Vacuum switches SIEMENS AG 8 Feb 1973 [6 March 1972] 6344/73 Heading H1N In a multiple vacuum switch having a plurality of evacuated vessels each containing a pair of switch contacts, each vessel is insulated from its neighbour by a ribbed trough-shaped insulating body which surrounds that vessel on three sides. The switch contacts inside the vessel 4 comprise a fixed contact connected via pin 14 to terminal 15 and a movable contact connected via pin 13 and flexible conductor 17 to terminal 20. A lever 5 of insulating material moves the contact on being displaced by pin 26 in a drive unit, this pin acting on an extension of the lever which passes out of the insulating body via aperture 27 into the drive unit. The pin 26 is on the armature 24 of an electromagnet driven by an auxiliary voltage, the armature being held in a "switch open" position by springs 25 in the absence of this auxiliary voltage. The ribbed insulating bodies are supported on the drive unit and besides the internal ribbing 40 have extra ribs 41, 42 at their upper and lower ends.
