1407955 Door handles etc D VOLLMANN [trading as VOLLMAN & SCHMELZER] 22 Feb 1974 [23 Feb 1973] 8145/74 Addition to 1373476 Heading E2A [Also in Division A4] In a door handle assembly comprising two handle members connected by a door handle spindle 16 which, in use, passes through a door panel, the handle members being supported in use at their ends adjacent the door panel by annular escutcheons, each handle member comprises a core 10 which is substantially right-angular in form and consists of a portion of a basic metal section having longitudinal cavities, and two shells 24, 25 respectively attached to each of the two sides of the core. For holding the spindle 16 in the cores 10 the respective free end of the spindle co-operates with an axially securing member constructed as an annular nut 114 carried within the cavity 12 of the core, the nut being screwable on to the end of the spindle, and at least one of the nuts is constructed as a pinion which co-operates with a meshing gear member 47 secured in the core against axial displacement and operable from one end thereof that end being accessible from the exterior of one handle shell 25 at least at one point thereof and is accommodated in the shell in spaced relationship to the outer surface thereof. As shown, the pinion 114 is fast with a bush 42 screwed on to the spindle, and the worm gear member 47 has a socket 49 for reception of a hexagonal spanner and a slot 50 for a screw driver. Rotation of the member 47 adjusts the axial position of the spindle within the core 10.
