813,595. Vehicle power steering. TEVES, H., TEVES, E. A., and TAUSEND, M., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK K.G., A.]. Feb. 20, 1957 [April 24, 1956], No. 5783/57. Class 79(5) In a power-assisted steering mechanism for a road vehicle, means for limiting rotation of the steering shaft 5 so as to determine the lock of the wheels, comprises a ring 3 mounted for axial sliding movement on the steering shaft but rotatable therewith, the ring 3 being disposed intermediate the steering wheel and the control valve of the mechanism, helical means for guiding the ring 3 axially along the shaft upon rotation thereof, and two stop members 8 spaced axially one on each side of the ring 3 and fixed relatively thereto for limiting the movement of the ring in both directions. As shown, a spline 6 fixed to the shaft 5 engages freely in a groove 4 in the ring 3, the ring 3 and stop members 8 having screw threaded engagement in a cylindrical housing 1. The ring 3 has projections 7 adapted to come into abutment in a rotational direction with corresponding projections 9 on the stop members 8. The positions of the stop members 8 can be adjusted through slots 10, 11 in the members 8 and housing 1 respectively, and fixed by bolts 12.
