Abstract

1406303 Regulating valve; ventilating crank-cases GENERAL MOTORS-HOLDEN'S PTY Ltd 22 Nov 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 53863/72 Heading F1B [ Also in Division F2] A gas regulating valve for use with an I.C. engine comprises a housing 2 containing a gas compartment 11 with which communicates an inlet passage 3 and an outlet passage 4 for connection to the crank-case and induction manifold respectively of the engine there being a flexible diaphragm valve member 5 connected to the housing to co-operate with a valve seat 7 to permit or prevent communication between passages 3 and 4 in response to the pressures therein. The regulating valve housing forms part of a base member for an air filter, an induction passage 22 being formed in the housing to connect to the engine induction manifold. Above the valve member 5 is an air compartment 12 which may be connected to atmosphere via passages 13 and 14. The valve member may be biased away from the valve seat by its natural resilience or by a coil spring (26), Fig.5 (not shown).
