Abstract
1405947 Balancing grinding wheels CINCINNATI MILACRON Inc 26 Oct 1972 [17 Nov 1971] 49324/72 Heading B3D [Also in Division F2] A mounting 13 for a spindle 12 on which is mounted a grinding wheel 10 with balancing masses 35 (e.g. clampable by a flange 37) is pivoted to a support 25 about an axis (e.g. a shaft 26) normal to the spindle 12 axis, to move against a resilient bias (e.g. a flexible rod 31. The spindle 12 may be connected to a V-belt pulley 19, e.g. via an Oldham coupling. The mounting 13 may be normally clamped to the support 25 by springs 63, 52 acting in the regions of the shaft 26 and the rod 31, the mounting being unclamped by the application of fluid pressure via lines 57, 65 and 70 on pistons 49, 66 and 69, the latter acting via a lever to move the rod 31 axially. When balancing the masses 35 and mounting 13 are clamped after the masses have moved to their correct positions.
