Abstract
140,516. Torazzi, M. F., and Webb, G. W. C. Dec. 23, 1918. Furnace gases and the like, mixing steam with.-The combustion chamber A, Fig. 1, fitted at one with a burner D, is contracted at the other end to form an ejector nozzle a<1>, which so enters the mouth of a chamber B that steam or water drawn in around the nozzle is mixed with the gases and the mixture is projected at a high velocity through the chamber in an uninterrupted flow to the turbine or other prime mover. The combustion chamber may be surrounded by a water chamber C, to which water is supplied at a regulated rate. The water chamber may be extended to surround a succession of mixing-chambers so formed and arranged that water or steam is drawn into the gases at the entrance to each chamber. A liquid-fuel burner, Fig. 2, for use in the apparatus comprises a central main air-supply tube d<1> surrounded by a casing forming an annular fuel-supply passage d<2>. Auxiliary air supplied through a passage d<4> around the casing may be drawn from the main air tube through a by-pass d<5> fitted with a cook d<6>.
