[Also in Group XI] A vaporizing system for use in a gas turbine combustion chamber comprises an annular vaporizing space 25 formed between the wall 24 bounding the flame zone and another wall which may be the wall 20 of the flame tube, air and fuel being led into the vaporizing space and the vaporized mixture discharged therefrom being reversed in direction by the annular baffle 27 and flange 28. The combustion chamber shown is of the annular type and air enters the space 25 through the swirl vanes 26 and fuel enters through the nozzles 30, the mixture being heated by contact with the wall 24 which is heated by the combustion occurring at E. Further air enters the flame tube through the swirl vanes 26a and also through the holes 32, 33 in the downstream portion. The air-fuel mixture discharging from the space 25 as indicated by the arrows D, together with the air flowing in the direction of the arrows C, causes the vortex E which forms the core of combustion taking place in the flame tube. A tubular type combustion chamber may be employed.
