Abstract

1404174 Locks WILMOT-BREEDEN LTD 10 July 1973 [12 July 1972] 32472/72 Heading E2A A bonnet latch having two strikers 20, 21 for engagement respectively with separately mounted main and safety latch members 12, 13, the latch members being urged by springs 36, 37 to their latching positions so that when the main latch member 12 is moved to the releasing position the safety latch member 13 is in the latching position. The latch members 12, 13 are pivotally mounted on a plate 10 which has apertures 18, 19 for the strikers 20, 21. When the latch member 12 is in releasing position the edge portion 35 of the latch member abuts an edge portion 34 of the safety latch member which is thereby in latching position. The latch is applicable to a bonnet of a vehicle the strikers 20, 21 being fixed to a plate 24 of the bonnet and the'latch members being fixed to the vehicle body a spring 31 on the main striker being compressed against the vehicle body when it is latched. The latch member 12 is notched for attachment of a remote release member operable from inside the vehicle.
