Abstract

1400503 Edge connectors BUNKER RAMO CORP 3 July 1972 [2 July 1971] 31085/72 Heading H2E A connector comprises a coacting mating plug 10 and receptacle 32 the plug having aligned plug contacts 12 mating with (bifurcated) contacts 48. Either the plug or receptacle has at least one guide pin 28, 30 mating with a socket 50, 52 on the receptacle or plug, their coacting guide surfaces being longer than the plug contacts 12. As shown the plug has a solid dielectric body into which the contacts 12, having soldering leads 16 or 18, are moulded. Holes 26 can be used for mounting. Guide pin 30 is broader than guide pin 28 (Fig. 4, not shown) and both pins have webs 29, 31 thinner than contacts 12 bearing against and supporting the closest adjacent contact. The pins 28, 30 fit into corresponding sockets 50 and 52 in receptacle 32 which is also a single moulded body having a central channel 34 and slots 42 for holding bifucated contacts 48. The length "L-L" of the coacting surfaces of pin 30 and socket 52 is greater than the length "L" of plug contacts 12.
