Abstract

1400238 Cleaning electrographic surfaces XEROX CORP 16 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 52988/72 Heading G2H Residual dry toner remaining on an electrographic surface 10 after transfer of a developed image is removed by being entrapped in a mass of wax, putty or a thixotropic material, contained in a cartridge 42. Rotating baffles 45 knead the mass, so that the part of it in contact with the electrographic surface is constantly changed. Preferably the mass is formed of a non-polar amorphous polymer, such as an ethylene-propylene copolymer, a polyethylene wax, polyisobutylene, with a silica or carbon black filler. Silicone putty and a mineral oil/silica mixture may also be used.
