Abstract

1396200 Flexible shaft couplings PRECISION KINEMATICS (GEARS & MECHANISMS) Ltd 13 Aug 1973 [11 Aug 1972] 37610/72 Heading F2U A flexible shaft coupling comprises input and output flanges 11, 13 connected alternately by clamps to a flexible diaphragm 14, each clamp (e.g. a bolt 12 and nut) having on each side of the diaphragm a cushion 117 of softer material. The cushions 117 may be planar and without flanges, and be compressed by an amount 8 determined by rigid components 15, 16 of the clamp. The diaphragm 14 may be of stainless steel laminates and the cushions 117 of nylon, resin impregnated fibre, bronze or an aluminium alloy.
