Abstract

1395196 Barrier fluid seals KLEIN SCHANZLIN & BECKER AG 8 Sept 1972 [11 Sept 1971] 41704/72 Heading F2B A sealing ring for forming a chamber for barrier fluid in the stuffing-box of a centrifugal pump comprises sheet metal parts constructed as two axially-spaced side walls 3, 4 fixed to a web 5. The webs are provided with apertures to permit the flow of barrier fluid which may be supplied from the pump or an external source. The ring may be made in segments 1, 2 with the web 5 of one segment interengaging between the side walls of the other as shown in Fig. 1. The parts of each segment may be secured by welding or by riveting projections 6 of the web into apertures in the side walls. Recesses 9 enable hooks to be inserted for removal of the segments.
