Abstract

1392641 Bearings WIREGLIDE BEARINGS Ltd 29 June 1973 [29 June 1972] 30375/72 Heading F2A A rolling wire-race bearing comprises two housings provided with confronting surfaces, each surface defining a track extending around the bearing and containing one pair of wires 5 on which the rolling elements 4 run, at least one housing being constituted by two rings 1, 6 secured together by a plurality of screw-threaded fasteners 7, wherein there is provided between the rings adjacent each fastener a shim 8 which is formed from flat sheet material and which comprises two wing portions 8a which act to space the two rings a predetermined distance apart and a central connecting portion 9 linking said wing portions so as to define a slot 8b through which the associated fastener passes, the shim being further provided with an integral tag portion 8c which extends from the margin of the connecting portion remote from the slot, said tag portion projecting from the rings so as to facilitate positioning of the shim and identification of its thickness. The tag portion may be bent out of the plane of the shim after fitting, and may be coloured, stamped, or otherwise marked to indicate the thickness of the spacing portions.
