Abstract

1386488 Knitting machines BENTLEY ENG CO Ltd 27 Sept 1973 [21 Oct 1972] 48573/73 Heading D1C In a single thickness toe-closure operation in a circular knitting machine when excess yarn is required to be withdrawn from the feeder 5 the yarn is gripped between discs 12, 13 to prevent more from being drawn off the bobbin, then the slack yarn is taken up by a set of three rollers 23 on a support 56 moving down between a second set of 3 rollers 22 to cause the yarn to assume a zigzag path. Clamping of the discs 12, 13 and movement of the roller 23 is effected through Bowden cables 42, 130 from an eccentric cam and cam follower (Fig. 4, not shown) driven in synchronism with the needle cylinder, and controlled by two pattern chains (38 and 122 respectively, Fig. 1 not shown).
