1384047 Feet for furniture LSD WOODTURNING 19 Jan 1972 [30 Oct 1970] 51602/70 Heading A4U A leg for an article of furniture comprises a hollow moulded plastics body member A connected by radial webs E to an integral central sleeve D, the stem K of a caster being retained in the lower end of the sleeve by a lug M, and a stud G, having a threaded end J for securing to the article, being fixed in the upper end of the sleeve. The end H of the stud G is formed as a wood screw and cuts its own thread in internal splines (F) in the sleeve. In a modification a closure disc for the open upper end of the body is screwed on to the threaded upper end of the stud which is welded or screwed into a tubular sleeve passing through an aperture in the closed lower end of the body and retained by flanging or beading against a washer located in a recess surrounding the aperture. In further modifications a ground engaging foot replaces the caster or a plug, replacing the disc, is push-fitted or glued in the hollow body which may contain filler material, such as foamed plastics.
