Abstract

1436325 Castors ARCHIBALD KENRICK & SONS Ltd 14 May 1973 [12 May 1972] 22532/72 Heading A4U A castor 15 is attached to an article of furniture, e.g. to a leg 10 of a chair or radiator, by a socket member 12 which receives the pin 14 of the castor and is engaged within a sleeve 11 fitted into a bore in the leg 10, the sleeve being made of a material that is deformed by the socket member 12 into gripping engagement with the leg 10. The sleeve is preferably made of high density polythene but it may be made of other synthetic plastics material or a soft metal such as lead, and it is tapered internally and externally in an upward direction. The member 12 is also tapered and it has ribs 13 which penetrate the sleeve 11. The leg 10 may be of steel or wood and it may be circular, triangular or rectangular.
