Abstract
1378130 Corrugating tubes FLIGHT REFUELLING Ltd 2 July 1973 31499/73 Addition to 1371331 Heading B3E [Also in Division F2] A metal cylindrical tube 10 is caused to collapse by the application of an axially applied load to at least one end of the tube 10; each end of the tube 10 is located in a respective annular groove 12, 13 in a respective end housing 14, 15 and adjacent each end the tube 10 is formed with a circumferential groove 16; 17. The grooves 16, 17 cause the load to be transmitted to the tube wall at a position intermediate the median 18 of the wall and a radial edge of the wall end, and this causes postelastic buckling. The grooves 16, 17 are shown in the external surface of the wall but they may alternatively be formed in the internal surface.
