Abstract

1377702 Automatic voltage control SOC DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES ET DE TRACTION 31 May 1972 [4 June 1971] 25556/72 Heading G3R In a power supply, having a rectifier circuit providing an output voltage from an A.C. mains input, and a stand-by battery connected to the A.C. mains through a charging set and to the supply output through a diode, the voltage difference between the rectifier circuit output and the battery is maintained constant and positive. In an embodiment, load 15 is supplied from A.C. mains 10 via a leakage field transformer 20 to 23, rectifier bridge 24 and thyristor 25, the stand-by circuit including battery 13 and diode 14. In the thyristor firing and regulating circuit, which is fed from a constant voltage across Zener diodes 31, 32, a differential amplifier 60, 70 compares the difference between the battery and thyristor output voltages with a reference set by potentiometer 61, any error changing the firing angle of thyristor 25 via a pulse generator, including capacitor 48 and unijunction transistor 35, the pulses being synchronized with the output of rectifier 24 by transistors 40, 45. Load 15 may be an inverter supplying current to battery 13, in its rectifying mode, via diode chain 74. The system may include a transistor and relay switching circuit Fig. 3 (not shown) measuring the voltage across diode 14 to give an indication e.g. alarm, when the mains fails and battery 13 is discharging.
