Abstract

1377524 Sound insulating panels SCHOELLER & CO KG 1 Feb 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 4751/72 Heading E1B A sound insulating element for forming sound proof enclosures, partitions or wall coverings comprises a rectangular section plastics tube, including spacing means 7 defining front 5 and rear 6 zones, the front zone being closed at the bottom 8 and filled with insulating material 9, and formed with an annular projection 11 at one end for mating with an annular channel 10 at the opposite end of an adjacent element. The rear zone may also be closed at 12 and filled with sand or other heavy loose material. The front zone may be closed at the bottom by a grid or mesh the filling being rock or glass wool and having continuous apertures 9 therethrough. The front plate may be corrugated and/or apertured. When sound is to be resisted, penetration in both directions, a three zone element is provided, both outer zones containing glass or rock wool and the centre zone sand. The spacers 7 may be replaced by dividing walls. In use the elements are stacked between T- section girders, the top elements of the stack receiving a cap, or they are secured to wooden battens by screws passing completely through the panels.
