Abstract

1377059 Fire-proof door MICROPORE INTERNATIONAL Ltd 23 June 1972 [24 March 1971] 45445/70 Heading E1J A fire proof door has a microporous thermally insulating slab 10 independently secured to each of two rigid facing panels 11 each of which can support the weight of the door, and the hinges or other door support means (e.g. hangers for a sliding door) are each connected independently to each panel 11 (e.g. by plates 21). The panels 11 may each be of fire resistant plywood with a sheet of steel interposed between it and the slab 10, and may be connected to the slab by threaded bolts 13 received in cups 14 at either end which cups bear against plates 16 on the slab 10. The door may have a peripheral laminated frame 12 of alternating fire resistant plywood and strips of a material which foams when heated and an edge strip 20 of plywood. Alternatively, the frame may be of metal channel or angle members.
