Abstract
1376797 Valves QUALITROL CORP 15 Dec 1972 [20 Jan 1972 6 April 1972] 58011/72 Heading F2V A pressure relief valve unit, e.g. for use in fluid-type transformers, has a brightly coloured cap 34, Fig. 1, normally covering the exhaust opening 37 in the valve housing 11 but being dislodged from its normal position, when gas pressure is relieved by the valve, to assume the dash line position shown and thereby indicate that the valve has been actuated. The cap additionally serves to prevent access of dust and moisture to the interior of the valve housing. The cap shown is pivotally mounted on a pin 42 engaging a vertical lost-motion slot 44 enabling the cap to move downwardly out of the opening before pivoting about the pin. The valve member 26 is guided by longitudinal ridges 31 on the internal surface of the housing and by stem and sleeve 28, 29. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), the cap is instead connected to the housing by a chain so that after dislodgement it is supported thereby. Moreover, the valve member stem is extended through the end wall of the housing to permit manual test operation of the valve.
