960,487. Valves. AUXILIAIRE DE L'INDUSTRIE ET DES MINES AUXIM. Nov. 24, 1961, No. 42154/61. Heading F2V. A cock for controlling the pneumatic braking of a vehicle and adapted when closed to ensure the exhaust of fluid from the downstream line 6 has a plug 1 with an oblique bore 13 connecting an opening 14 in the periphery of the plug with a bore 12, the opening 14 being midway between the ends of a bore 11 and the bore 12 communicating with a connection 9 to atmosphere when the plug is in the position shown. Communication between the line 6 and the connection 9 is interrupted when the plug 1 is rotated to put the inlet 5 in communication with the line 6 through the bore 11. To prevent leakage, a sleeve 15 of rubber with beads 16 surrounding each fluid opening and end beads 18 encloses the plug. A small tube in the connection 9 engages the corresponding opening in the sleeve to hold the latter against rotation. The upper end of the plug is keyed to a handle 22 pivotally supporting a spring- loaded stop 26 for alternative engagement with a pair of recesses 28 between shoulders 27a, 27b and 27c on an end cap 3. Retraction of the stop by a finger grip 24 is limited by an abutment surface 30 to ensure that the plug is not rotated beyond the shoulders 27a and 27c. Specification 825,713 is referred to.
