Abstract

1376371 Tape threading apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 3939/72 Addition to 1219412 Heading G5R [Also in Division G2] In a modification of the film/tape threading device disclosed in Specification 1,219,412 the threading roller is replaced by two variably spaced rolls 63, 64 which apply a transverse flexing force to the outermost part of the film/ tape roll 24 or 54 to strip it from its reel. As shown in Fig. 2, the rolls 63, 64 are identical frustums and are both movable on the spindle 35. During the stripping operation the reel forces the rolls 63, 64 apart against the action of springs 37, 38 until the reel is symmetrically placed with respect to the rolls i.e. when the flanges 21, 22 of the reel abut ridges 67, 68. This occurs regardless of the gauge of film/tape used. Fig. 7 shows an alternative arrangement where the rolls 63, 64 are not identical and the latter is fixed. With this arrangement the stripping action again occurs when the upper reel flange 51 abuts ridge 67.
