Abstract

1375264 Push towing INTERSTATE OIL TRANSPORT CO 12 April 1972 [9 Dec 1971] 16859/72 Headings B7A B7S and B7V A waterborne vessel 20 having a stern notch 21 is pushed by tug 22 the bow of which can be inserted into the notch. The two vessels are coupled together by forward and aft couplings comprising interfitting forward and aft wedges 24, 28 and forward and aft recesses 25, 29 on the tug and notch respectively. The generally vertical arrangement of the forward and aft couplings provides for a number of relative drafts and trims of the two vessels. The after coupling comprises one coupling on each side of the tug and notch whilst the forward coupling may be one interfitting formation 26, 27 located directly at the bow as shown in Fig. 2.
