Abstract

1412054 Pusher tugs and barges ATELIERS ET CHANTIERS DE BRETAGNE ACB 13 July 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 33581/73 Heading B7S A pusher tug 3 mates with an inverted T- section opening in the stern of a barge 1. The vessels are coupled by a longitudinal thrust transmitting member (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), and by inflatable cushions 7, 10, 11 which force the tug against plates 4 and 8 provided on the wall of the barge opening. The cushions may be provided on the tug or the barge and the inflating medium may be oil. Hydraulic jacks may be used in addition to the cushions to force the tug against the barge plates.
