Abstract

1372809 Hydraulic circuits PRIESTMAN BROS Ltd 4 April 1973 [30 May 1972] 25243/72 Heading F1P The oil supplied through a duct 10 to cause rightward movement of a piston 7 in a cylinder I is throttled when, near the end of the stroke, the piston 7 obstructs the first of two cylinder ports 14, 15, the obstruction causing the generation of a pressure differential in ducts 12, 13 which is used to move a valve 16 in the supply duct 10 to a throttling position. The valve 16 shown is a spool valve having the ends thereof subjected to the pressure differential in the ducts 12, 13 and being urged by a spring to its non-throttling position. A non-return valve and a throttle 17 are connected in parallel in the duct 13 to ensure that the spool valve does not charge back due to the fall in the supply pressure. An annular clearance 9 around the piston ensures that there is always a return path through the port 14 to a return R. A check valve in one of two parallel supply ducts may replace the spool valve, the check valve being closed by the pressure differential.
