Abstract

1368682 Mower-spreader BUCHER-GUYER AG MASCHINENFABRIK 5 Jan 1972 [6 Jan 1971] 406/72 Heading A1F A hay spreader'and conditioner connected behind a rotary mower with at least one pair of contra-rotating cutters comprises a generally cylindrical drum 12 rotatably driven about a horizontal axis and carrying delivery tools which may be in the form of pins 11 .or longitudinally extending strips and which may be rigidly or pivotally attached to the surface of the drum. The drum is characterised in that the distance between the tips of the tools and the axis of rotation of the drum is greater in the region between each contra-rotating pair of rotors than elsewhere. This may be achieved by the use of a cylindrical drum with delivery tools of varying length, or (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) by the use of tools of equal length on a drum whose shape is that of two truncated cones joined at their larger ends. The drum is covered by a guide wall 17 which defines an overshot delivery passage 18 mounted on the guide wall 17 and engaging in the passage 18 is an angularly adjustable rake-like comb 19, which contributes to the conditioning action. The cutting rotors, which carry pivotable knives, may be of vertical drum form as shown, supported from the ground on sliding soles 9, or of oval disc-shaped form (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) with a gear box (22) sliding over the ground. In the latter case the delivery drum is mounted so as to extend over the rotors.
