1365347 Cooling I C engines MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NœRNBERG A G 2 Nov 1971 [6 Nov 1970] 50977/71 Heading F1B A cylinder head for a liquid cooled I. C. engine comprises a base-plate 10 of material capable of withstanding the high temperatures of the combustion chamber and provided with inlet and exhaust valve seats surrounded by cooling ducts 26, a supporting part 11 defining at least one exhaust valve guide 16 and an exhaust port 19 and an inlet port part 12 defining at least one inlet valve guide 20 and an inlet port being secured to the base-plate,the base-plate and the parts 11 and 12 being of different materials. The baseplate may be of steel, the part 11 of spheroidal graphite cast iron and the part 12 of aluminium alloy. The exhaust port 19 is cooled by liquid in ducts 28, but the inlet port is cooled by air in the space 29, which also houses fuel injection units.
