Abstract

1364287 Container closures W DUBACH 4 Aug 1971 [13 Aug 1970] 36567/71 Heading B8T A stopper has a tubular sealing element 15 seated at one end on a pressure plate 14 and at its other end on the cylindrical body of a cover 12, a spring 20 being operative between the cover 12 and a head portion 19 of a movable guide member 17 in order to urge the sealing element 15 radially outwards, as shown. The sealing element 15 is released by manual pressure on the head portion 19. To lock the sealing element 15 and expand it still further the head portion 19 may be turned, thereby causing a pin 22 to move up a cam guide 23 into a recess 23<SP>11</SP>. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the stopper may be locked by means of a plate (148) movable eccentrically to engage under a shoulder (144) of a cover portion (112) so that the sealing element (115) is held in its non-sealing position. The guide member may be connected to the plate (148) by means of a link (117<SP>1</SP>) ball-jointed at each end. Again, Fig. 4 (not shown), the sealing element (215) may be controlled by a locking mechanism of a type known for moving the writing cartridge of a ball-point pen.
