Abstract

1362142 Track apparatus BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD 5 March 1973 [17 March 1972] 12642/72 Heading B7H The aspect of a multi-aspect trackside signal is signalled to a passing train by a permanent magnet 10, a D.C. fed electromagnet 11 and a high-frequency loop antenna 13 disposed in advance of the signal, the permanent magnet only signalling red or yellow aspects, the permanent magnet and the antenna signalling double yellow, the permanent and electromagnets signalling green and the combination of all three elements signalling a fifth aspect for use on very high speed trains. Apparatus, Fig. 2 (not shown) is provided on the train for displaying the aspects and for intiating braking if a restrictive aspect is signalled and the driver fails to acknowledge its reception. Figs. 3-5 (not shown) indicate different arrangements for energizing the electromagnet and the high-frequency antenna.
