Abstract
1356902 Train control system INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 7 Sept 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 41542/72 Heading B7N In a system for controlling railway traffic in an area in response to a signal indicating an overheated axle box on a train in the area, the overheated axle box detectors can be at the trackside or on the trains. Each axle box on the train including locomotive T and rail wagons W1, W2 is provided with two detectors F1, F2 or F3, F4 or F5, F6, one of which provides an output when the axle box temperature is critical and the other at a temperature approaching the critical value. Signals from the detectors, and axle type and vehicle position signals, are transmitted via a line connecting the rail vehicles to the locomotive and are transmitted from the locomotive by transmitter S1, either by radio or lineside wire, to a receiver E1 at a central control. The output from the receiver is fed via a converter V1 to an evaluating and output device A and data processor EDV. The processor determines, taking into account all the traffic in the area, the speed and the place and time of stopping of the train with the overheated axle box and also control data for the other trains in the area. The output device A passes the data as control instructions which are passed by transmitting devices S2 to the trains. Where the detectors are at the line side the information is passed to the central office which issues control signals to signal boxes STW controlling line side signals.
