Abstract

1361707 Cleaning vehicle lamp glasses and windscreens ELECTROLUX A B 7 Nov 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 51212/72 Heading A4F A wiper system for cleaning a convex surface such as that of a vehicle headlamp lens 12, or a windscreen, comprises a wiper blade 13 mounted on an arm 14 or a driving shaft 15, Fig. 1 (not shown), and reciprocable between two end positions whilst exerting a substantially constant pressure on the surface, at least one stop rendering the blade convex in the direction of movement to at least one of said end positions. As illustrated a stop 19 or 20 is provided at each end position and is so located that the blade 13 may be parked with a curvature conforming to the lens periphery. The driving shaft (15) is oscillated by a cable drive and its axis passes through the centre of spherical curvature of the lens surface. The wiper shaft and wiper arm 14 are hollow for the passage of cleaning liquid to a spray nozzle on the arm 14. The shafts carrying the blades wiping two vehicle headlamps are driven by a common cable and pulley mechanism, Fig. 3 (not shown).
