Abstract

1360730 Box girders SLOVACKE STROJIRNY NARODNI PODNIK 27 July 1972 35279/72 Heading E1K A box girder consists of a box portion having a top 4, sides 5a, 5b and a base 6a, 6b through which projects inwardly either an upper portion 3 (Fig. 1) of the web 1 of an inverted T-section girder, or brackets 10 (Fig. 4) welded to the web 1, the web 1 being welded to the base, and partitions 7 which are welded to the top, sides and base and to either the web I or the brackets 10 (when used). The flanges 2 of the T-section girder are for use as a runway where, as in Fig. 5, the box girder forms part of an overhead crane. In Fig. 5, the middle section 12 has a web 1 which extends to the top of the box, so that the partitions 7 are divided into pairs of partitions 7a, 7b, whilst the outer sections 11 are constructed as in Fig. 1 or Fig. 4. As shown, the top or base may be integrally connected with the sides by bends.
