Abstract

1358693 Collapsible buildings; sliding hinge I CLIFTON & SONS Ltd 20 July 1971 [21 July 1970] 35173/70, Headings E1A and E2F In a collapsible building comprising a floor member 10 and at least one wall member 12 pivotally connected thereto by a hinge 22, the hinge comprises a first portion 25 rigidly mounted as by bolts passing through holes 30 to the floor member and a second portion 26 likewise secured by bolts passing through holes 41 to the wall member. The first portion is provided with a slotted blade 27 and the second portion with a sleeve 37 having a bolt 35 in sliding engagement with the slot 28 of the blade; a locking pin 34 being provided for selective positioning in aligned holes 32, 33 in the blade. The hinges are dimensioned to allow the two longer side walls to fold inwardly onto the floor one above the other and the two end walls to fold inwardly onto the uppermost side wall. In a modification the base 29 of the hinge depicted in Fig. 3 is replaced by an L-shaped base member 42, Fig. 1, which is attached by one arm to a floor joist 15 and by the other arm to a floor skid 14.
