Abstract

1357442 Phenazinium compounds SCHERING AG 7 June 1971 [6 June 1970] 19172/71 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C3 and C7] Phenazinium compounds have the formula where n is from 2 to 100, A is an acid residue and R<SP>1</SP> to R<SP>9</SP> are hydrogen atoms or alkyl or aryl groups, R<SP>5</SP> or R<SP>8</SP> being a free valency when n is greater than 2. They are prepared by diazotizing a compound of formula and heating the reaction solution to liberate nitrogen. Examples of the compounds and their preparation are given. The compounds are used as additives to acidic copper electrolytes to obtain improved copper coatings.
