Abstract

1356284 Feeding webs AGFA-GEVAERT AG 19 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 25623/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division G1] In apparatus for discharging static electricity from a moving web 1, the web runs over a cooled roller 4 and is then subjected to a stream of moist air issuing from a nozzle 5 so that condensation takes place on the surface of the web in the region of an earthed contact roller 6. In another embodiment, the web is cooled by cold air issuing from a plurality of jets (3) and is then subjected to moist air issuing from further jets (5), Fig. 5 (not shown). The relative humidity of the moist air may be varied in dependence upon deviations of the charge-state of the web from a desired value, these deviations being detected by a measuring device of known type.
