Abstract

1355006 Screening apparatus MIDWESTERN INDUSTRIES Inc 15 Feb 1972 [17 March 1971] 6953/72 Heading B2H Motion is imparted to a material separator by means of a motion generator 42 comprising a rotatable member 44 mounted axially of the separator and tray or cage means 70, 80 mounted on the member 44, adapted'to hold circumferentially adjustable weights 76, 86 and being adjustable in an axial direction with respect to the separator. The separator comprises a series of axially adjacent sections 31 with screens in between the sections and with a chute 36 along the periphery of each screen for discharge of screened material. The section-screen assembly is secured to a baseplate 29 which is supported by springs 28 on a cylindrical base 21. Ribs 39 extending from the baseplate 29 support a housing 40 of the generator 42. The latter may consist of a variable speed electric motor having a rotor 44 rotable around a stationary shaft 43 which is secured by set screws 50 to upper and lower support plates 48, 49 which are respectively bolted to the baseplate 29 and to a flange 53 welded to the housing 40. Spacers 52 may be provided between the plates 29 and 48 and/or between plate 49 and flange 53 to provide for coarse vertical adjustment of the motion generator 42. Fine vertical adjustment of the generator may be provided by a threaded shaft 60 via a handle 61 after loosening the set screws 50. The trays 70, 80 have body portions 71, 81, vertically adjustably secured to the rotor 44 by set screws 72, 82. The weights 76, 86 fit over circumferentially spaced pegs 75, 85 on the trays. By varying the height of the generator 42, the speed of the rotor 44 and the circumferential position and number of the weights 76, 86 a virtually unlimited variety of separator motions may be obtained. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not - shown), the rotatable member consists of a shaft which is belt-driven by a variable speed electric motor mounted on the inside wall of the cylindrical base 21.
