Abstract
1354958 Anchor nuts and bolts PALAR (CURACAO) NV 3 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 56367/71 Heading F2H An anchor means 10 comprises an internally threaded load bearing member 20, which may comprise a separate sleeve and two expansible members 18, 19 located around a reduced diameter portion 17 of a shank 11. On insertion of the shank 11 in a hole 12, members 18, 19 positively engage the hole wall and subsequent partial removal of the means 10 expands the members 18, 19 over a tapered portion 16 of the shank 11 thereby causing anchoring. Possible accidental removal of the anchor means 10 by repeatedly alternating the direction of the load force is prevented by, for example, ratchet teeth 41. The teeth 41 are directed so as to engage the members 18, 19 during tensile loading. In modifications, accidental removal is prevented by cup springs (Fig. 6, not shown), a nut (Fig. 7, not shown) or by a threaded sleeve (Fig. 8, not shown). These modifications function by exerting a tensile force, which anchors the members 18, 19 in position, which is greater than the compression force exerted by a load. The anchor means 10 may comprise ribs 24 which engage in the hole 12 so as to prevent rotation.
