Abstract

1323037 Anchoring device for a rock bolt C I WILLIAMS 19 April 1971 [3 Feb 1970] 32444/72 Divided out of 1323031 Heading F2H The subject matter of this Specification is identical with that described in Specification 1,323,033, but the invention claimed is an anchoring device (33) for securing a rock bolt (34), having a threaded end (43), in a hole (31) in a rock formation (30), the anchoring device (33) including a thrust ring (45) normally in threaded engagement with the end (43) at the extremity of the threading thereof, a tapered member (44) normally in threaded engagement with the end (43) with its smaller end facing the ring (45) and also including an expansible shell (46) surrounding the member (44) and axially interposed between the member (44) and ring (45), an element of the surface of the member (44) being inclined to the axis of the bolt (34) at an interior angle of less than fifteen degrees and the thrust ring (45) having a diameter less than the unexpanded diameter of the shell (46) and a length substantially equal to or greater than the diameter of the ring (45).
