Abstract

1353462 Stud and socket fastenings A S WOJCINSKI 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 23858/71 Heading E2B A snap fastener comprises a female member 51 having a base 52 and a socket, and a male member 59 having at least a shank and a head 34 integral therewith and receivable in the socket, a securing member 62 being provided and which is slidably mounted in the socket and adapted to hold and retain the male member detachably in the socket. As shown, the male member is engaged in a resilient ring 58 and the female member consists of screwedtogether rings 52, 53 provided with projections 56, 57 for gripping a member 1, the male member being secured by a screw 61 to a member 2. The securing element 62 slides in grooves 66 and has detents 67 which, when the element is partially withdrawn to release the male member, engage in recesses 68. In a modification, the shank of the male member is provided with two axially spaced, partspherical ball portions of different diameters and either one of which is engageable in the ring 58 to obtain two degrees of fastening force.
