Abstract

1352308 Ship stabilizing fins VOSPER THORNYCROFT Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 Dec 1969] 61942/69 Heading B7M A ship stabilizer system comprises at least one pair of individually retractable fins 11 mounted on the hull 10 of the ship. Each fin of each pair has at least one convex surface and is located abeam of the other fin of the pair and is of asymmetrical section. The fins are extended and retracted by automatic control about an axis which is skewed so as to increase progressively the angle of incidence of the fin as extension takes place. As one fin is extended the other one of the pair is retracted.
