Abstract

1350597 Valves A H FLATER 18 May 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 9578/70 Heading F2V An adaptor 1 which is connectible to the outlet T of a tap and which can be selectively set to give either spray flow or stream flow, comprises a housing 15 containing therewithin in a fixed spaced relationship a perforated plate 6 and a baffle plate 2. The perforated plate includes a tapered seat-forming portion 6A which is engageable by a correspondingly shaped peripheral portion of a valve member 4, 5. In operation and with the valve member seated on the spray plate, flow from the tap passes over plate 2 and into the central portion 5 of this valve member, such flow having to pass through a screen 12. The outflow is in a stream condition. Upon the valve member 4, 5 being manually raised into abutment with the plate 2, the flow passing over plate 2 maintains the valve member in its raised or unseated position wherein the central portion 5 of the valve member is closed to flow by the plate 2. Accordingly, fluid passing over plate 2 leaves the adaptor through the perforated plate. The outflow is thus in a spray condition.
