Abstract

1349759 Ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer compositions MONTECATINI EDISON SpA 12 May 1971 [12 May 1970] 14575/71 Heading C3P A coating composition comprises an ethylenetetrafluoroethylene binary copolymer of from 50 to 70 mole per cent tretrafluoroethylene based on the copolymer and a latent solvent, i.e. an organic compound which, being more volatile than the copolymer, is capable of dissolving the copolymer at an elevated temperature but less so at lower temperatures. In the examples the compositions comprise polyvinylidene fluoride, ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymers, dimethyl phthalate, di-isobutyl ketone, dibutyl phthalate, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, titanium dioxide and methyl ethyl ketone and are coated on aluminium, iron, chromate treated aluminium, sand-blasted mild steel, mild steel and soft iron substrates.
