Abstract
1349142 Screw sockets D BRYCE-SMITH 30 April 1971 [26 Feb 1970 6 May 1970] 9483/70 and 21869/70 Heading F2H A screw or nail socket is formed as a nested helix of metal or plastics flat resilient strip material with a width between 0À6 and 0À1 inches, and a thickness between 0À002 and 0À05 inches. The socket is suitable for use in blind bores (Fig. 2) or in panels (Fig. 5), and may initially be in the form of a continuous tube (Fig. 7) with weak walls at the steps of the helix which fracture when the socket is used to form the nested helix. One or both edges of the strip may be serrated, and the strip may be coated with latex, or roughened. Steel, aluminium, polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, nylon, glycol-terephthalic acid polyester, and polyformaldehyde-ethylene oxide polymer, are suitable materials.
